This is the coming soon signup funnel.

With it you can give everyone who visits your site a peek of what's to come and tease anticipation, so you can gather leads, and send information to those who are interested in hearing more.

It has 2 parts.

Part 1

In part one, your traffic is directed to your coming soon page, which has an opt in to know more, to get updates, to join a list, etc., and usually includes a timer until the anticipated feature or ability is live for everyone to access.

Part 2

Part 2 is simply your thank you page, with a message to check their email for whatever incentives you gave for them to opt in for.
